Super Smash Bros. is a fighting game released on the Nintendo 64 in 1999. The game consists of 3-D graphics when fighting on a 2-D field. The game's character roster consists of popular heroes from the Nintendo gaming company. The game was successful and two sequels were made, Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

- Yoshi-A green dinosaur from Yoshi's Island.
- Kirby-An extraterrestial being that can suck in and devour its enemies.
- Fox McCloud-An ace pilot and the leader of the Star Fox team.
- Captain Falcon-A champion racer from a futuristic world.
- Ness-A young boy with PSI powers from the town of Onett.
- Luigi-Mario's brother and sidekick.
- Jigglypuff-A balloon-like Pokémon that acts much like Kirby.
Metroid References
Samus Aran makes an appearance in the game. Her weapons from the Metroid series that appear are her Power Beam, Charge Beam, Bombs, and Flamethrower. A stage called Planet Zebes appears, with Ridley and Wavers in the background.

- Samus Aran is the toughest bounty hunter in the galaxy. Using a special suit powered by the technology of the bird people which allows her to execute daring acrobatic feats, Samus pursues the airborne life form, Metroid, throughout the universe.
Trivia
- The Flamethrower makes an appearance in the game, although it was not in the Metroid canon until three years later with the release of Metroid Prime.
