This article is about the Prime series X-Ray Visor. For the Super Metroid visor, see X-Ray Scope. |
The X-Ray Visor is the last Visor upgrade obtained in both Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. It is used to see through walls, see cloaked enemies, find hidden objects, and locate passages.
Metroid Prime
In Metroid Prime, it is found in the Life Grove in the Tallon Overworld. It is the only way to cross Metroid Quarantine A without sequence breaking by shooting the invisible platforms to find them. It is needed to see the Omega Pirate when it heals itself, and to see the Metroid Prime when it cloaks itself. It is also needed to find the Artifact of Spirit (though the Thermal Visor can also be used in this instance).
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
In Corruption, it is found in the Pirate Homeworld and is used the same way as it was in Prime. However, it can be combined with the Nova Beam to locate weak spots in enemies and defeat them in one shot. Visors that are very similar to this have also appeared. The X-Ray Scope from Super Metroid and the Dark Visor from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.
Trivia
- Since the X-Ray Visor in the first Metroid Prime shows Samus's skeleton even when she is firing a weapon, the X-Ray Visor reveals how to shoot Beams and Missiles with the Arm Cannon. Oddly, as seen in this image, most of her hand gestures don't match up with the ones in the HUD.
