The Phazon Suit is a modification to the Power Suit that was created when the Omega Pirate fell on top of Samus following their battle. Phazon seeped into her suit, causing viral corruption.
Properties[edit | edit source]
The suit is jet black in appearance and offers complete protection from Blue Phazon, though more potent types of Phazon will still cause damage. Beneficial side effects include increased defensive shielding, and the ability to enter "Hyper-Mode" and use the Phazon Beam, which is required to defeat Metroid Prime. After Samus defeats the creature, Metroid Prime pulls the suit from Samus and later uses the borrowed DNA to become Dark Samus. This leaves Samus in her Gravity Suit and free of corruption.
The suit is also needed to obtain the Artifact of Newborn without taking damage.

The Power Suit has been corrupted by viral exposure, turning it into the Phazon Suit.

The viral corruption of the Power Suit has some beneficial side effects.
The suit is now resistant to the effects of Blue Phazon. The suit is not invulnerable to the effects of all Phazon, however.
In addition to Phazon resistance, the corruption has dramatically increased defensive shielding levels.[1]
