Metroid: Samus Returns is a Metroid game to be released for the Nintendo 3DS in September 2017. It follows Samus Aran's mission to exterminate all Metroids on the planet SR388. It is a remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus released for the Game Boy in 1991. A special edition is to be released which includes a copy of the game, a CD of 25 select music tracks from across the series called the "Samus Archives Sound Selection", and a reversible title sheet for the game's cover.[2]
A Samus Aran and a Metroid amiibo are to be released alongside the game. The game is also compatible with the Samus and Zero Suit Samus amiibo from the Super Smash Bros. set.
Storyline
It can be assumed that the game follows the same events as the original.
New gameplay elements
Samus can now fire in every direction, and has a melee attack. The Charge Beam, Grapple Beam, and Super Missile have been shown to have been added, seen in the Nintendo Treehouse gameplay footage. Samus also has some new abilities using a form of energy known as Aeion.
