Frigidite is a substance encountered in Metroid Prime. It is resistant to most forms of Beam and concussive weaponry, but exposure to extreme heat can remove it.[1]
Frigidite is potentially damaging to mechanical equipment, as in the case of the icy frigidite shell found on the security gate in the Elite Quarters Access in the Phazon Mines.[2] The Phazon Mines are, in fact, the only location where Samus encounters frigidite; its scarcity and absence in the sub-zero Phendrana Drifts could indicate that it is, not a naturally occurring substance, but a synthetic creation used by Space Pirates.
