Magmoor Caverns is a large volcanic region of Tallon IV, and the third area visited by Samus Metroid Prime. The Caverns consist of large caves with stalactites, mostly with lava flooding the ground, and floating platforms that descend over time. While most of the area is natural, a portion of the Caverns is run by Space Pirate operations. Magmoor Caverns is widely considered a crossway in Metroid Prime, supported by the fact that all areas of the game except for the Impact Crater connect to it. Magmoor Caverns' name originates from the common lava-based creature that inhabits the area, the Magmoor. Samus can access the Caverns earlier in her visit, but cannot venture far without the acquisition of the Varia Suit. While the whole area is below every other area in the game, there are three rooms that are located above the surface, those being the Triclops Pit, Monitor Station, and Magmoor Workstation. The most common enemies of Magmoor Caverns are Magmoors, Puffers, Triclops, Auto Defense Turrets, and Flying Pirates. The area is the only one in Metroid Prime that does not contain a. It also has the least amount of upgrades, besides the Impact Crater, the only ones being the Ice Spreader and the Plasma Beam. There are two Missile Expansions, two Energy Tanks, and one Power Bomb Expansion.
