The Chozo Ruins are the remains of a once great civilization, the home of the Chozo race of Tallon IV. The area makes up a portion of the Planet in Metroid Prime. The Chozo left the planet after the initial Phazon incident, leaving their great cities in ruin. The area has the most upgrades in the game, as well as five Energy Tanks and twenty Missile Expansions. The area has most of the Chozo Lore in the game as well. The most common creatures in the Ruins are the standard Beetle enemy, the Plated Beetle enemy, War Wasps, Scarabs, Chozo Ghosts, Stone Toads, Shriekbats, and Reaper Vines. The bosses of the area are the Hive Mecha, a Plated Beetle, the Incinerator Drone, and Flaahgra. Before the mutated plant Flaahgra's defeat by Samus, most of the water in the ruins was poisonous and dealt damage when stepped in. The water then purifies after Flaahgra's death and it becomes accessable. Chozo Ghosts inhabit most of the area after this and respawn after Samus leaves a room where they abode in. Surprisingly, the Ruins do not hold the most Chozo Artifacts in the game. The Artifacts that are found in the Ruins are Lifegiver, Wild, and World.
