This article is about the Metroid Prime exclusive Phazon Suit. For the Metroid Prime 3: Corruption suit, see Phazon Enhancement Device Suit.

The Phazon Suit is a modification to the Power Suit that was created when the Omega Pirate fell on top of Samus following their battle. Phazon seeped into her suit, causing viral corruption.

Properties

The suit is jet black in appearance and offers complete protection from Blue Phazon, though more potent types of Phazon will still cause damage. Beneficial side effects include increased defensive shielding, and the ability to enter "Hyper-Mode" and use the Phazon Beam, which is required to defeat Metroid Prime. After Samus defeats the creature, Metroid Prime pulls the suit from Samus and later uses the borrowed DNA to become Dark Samus. This leaves Samus in her Gravity Suit and free of corruption.

The suit is also needed to obtain the Artifact of Newborn without taking damage.

The viral corruption of the Power Suit has some beneficial side effects.

The suit is now resistant to the effects of Blue Phazon. The suit is not invulnerable to the effects of all Phazon, however.

In addition to Phazon resistance, the corruption has dramatically increased defensive shielding levels.

Trivia

• While Phazon is colored blue and white, the Phazon Suit has an opposing color scheme, black and red.
• The Phazon Suit is very similarly in function to Corruption's PED Suit. Both offer protection from Phazon and harness the substance for their respective Hyper Beam. Both suits are also unstable by nature due to Phazon experimentation. A notable difference, however, is that the Phazon Suit uses energy found surrounding Samus while the PED Suit uses Samus's internal Phazon.
• The Phazon suit is one of the first suits to modify more than the Power Suit's color scheme. It changes, not only the armor, but also her helmet and torso.
• If the Phazon Suit is obtained while the Fusion Suit is on, the Fusion Suit will take on the color scheme of the Omega Fusion Suit from the final battle in Metroid Fusion.
