Norion is a planet in the Kalandor Region, on the fringe of Federation space. The planet is considered to be of great strategic importance to the Federation. The military maintains a strong presence in this sector, and the base on Norion is often the first line of defense against enemies that operate outside of Federation space.
Originally a barren orb incapable of sustaining life, a sophisticated terraforming project designed by Aurora Unit 486 has turned Norion into a hardy forest world. The Federation outpost on Norion was attacked by a Leviathan sent by Dark Samus. The efforts of bounty hunters Samus Aran, Ghor, Gandrayda and Rundas assisted by the Federation military put a stop to it. This is the only recorded event where a Leviathan has been stopped from making contact with a planet.
