The Dark Missile Trooper is an Ing-possessed Missile Trooper. The trooper was killed by the native lifeforms on Aether, but due to the Ing's ability to resurrect dead creatures, it was brought back to life.

Battle[edit | edit source]

The Dark Missile Trooper isn't a particularly difficult mini-boss compared to some of the others in the game. All Beam attacks will damage it, but being possessed by Ing, it is especially weak to the Light Beam and Annihilator Beam. A charged shot from the Dark Beam also can be used to freeze it and instantly destroy it with a Missile. It attacks with missiles, as the name implies, but has a low response time, allowing Samus to dodge its attacks rather easily.[1] Killing it will reward Samus with a Missile Expansion.

Logbook[edit | edit source]

Logbook entry from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes: Dark Missile Trooper
First Location: Temple Grounds - Hive Chamber A Limited Scan
Bioscans indicate terminated lifesigns in this Missile trooper, and the presence of an unknown biomass with parasitic tendencies. Though the Missile trooper's armor has been compromised, the bulk of it remains intact. Missile weapon system remains online as well. Full parasitic fusion has yet to be obtained, resulting in low agility and response time.[1]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Samus can defeat the Dark Missile Trooper faster by freezing it with a charged Dark Beam followed by a Missile to shatter it than she can with the Light Beam. They share this characteristic with Dark Pirate Commandos.
  • Even though Samus encounters the Ing before battling the Dark Missile Trooper, the Logbook still refers to the Ing as an "unknown biomass".
