The Hive Chamber A is a room in the Temple Grounds. The room is entered from the Hive Access Tunnel and leads to the Hive Tunnel. Samus can later return here much later in the game, after upgrading her Translator Module, to get a Missile Expansion by defeating a mini-boss.

Features[edit | edit source]

The first main room is filled with crates and devices rigged to dispense industrial-grade pesticide. Residual pesticide lingers in the form of a visible fog throughout the room, and there are piles of dead Splinters scattered around the area.

The far end of the room has a GF Gate Mk VI blocking the exit. A nearby Scan Terminal can be used to activate two Armored Security Locks on the gate, which can be destroyed to raise the gate. If Samus returns to this room after acquiring the first upgrade to her Translator Module, she will fight the Dark Missile Trooper. After its defeat, she will obtain a Missile Expansion.

The second section of the overall room is a small tunnel. The far end of the tunnel is initially blocked by a large gate. It can be moved using a Scan Terminal in a nearby alcove. There are a few large Splinter carcasses in the tunnel. The final area is a room filled with assorted Galactic Federation computers, holoscreens, and terminals. There is a Map Station in this section, along with a webbing blocking the door to the Hive Tunnel. The webbing can be destroyed by shooting the green bulb in the center.

Upgrades[edit | edit source]

Missile Expansion[edit | edit source]

Requires: Nothing

  • Once Samus has her Translator Module upgraded, she can return here at any point to find the Dark Missile Trooper in the gated area she fell into on her first visit. When she defeats the Trooper, it'll drop an expansion for her Missile Launcher.
