Samus

Samus's Moveset

Samus Aran, the main protagonist of the Metroid series, makes an appearance. Her move list is as followed:

  • Special Move: Samus's Special Move (B button) is her Charge Beam. She can charge it up after time and fire it for a very powerful blow.
  • Side Special Move: Samus's Side Special Move (B+Right/Left analog stick) fires a Missile at her opponent. If the button combination is performed in a certain fashion, she can fire a Super Missile.
  • Up Special Move: Samus's Up Special Move (B+Up analog stick) allows her to perform her Screw Attack, a very strong move that performs many consecutive attacks, which is useful for breaking Smash Balls. The move launches Samus upward to help her to not fall off of the platform.
  • Down Special Move: Samus's Down Special Move (B+Down analog stick) makes Samus enter her Morph Ball and drop a Bomb. The attack is not very powerful and is difficult to hit an opponent with.
  • Grab Move: Samus's Grab Move (Left on the D-Pad) is her Grapple Beam. It latches on to enemies as well as ledges.
  • Final Smash: When Samus breaks a Smash Ball, she can fire a non-canon beam called the Zero Laser, a devastating beam that is one of the best Final Smashes in the game. It is so powerful in fact, that it destroys Samus's Power Suit and she appears in her Zero Suit, with an entire new moveset.

Zero Suit Samus's Moveset

Zero Suit Samus is Samus in her Zero Suit, a much weaker yet much more agile fighter than Samus.

  • Special Move: Zero Suit Samus's Special Move fires her Paralyzer Weapon. It is a short ranged, yet useful weapon that "paralyzes" the opponent.
  • Side Special Move: Zero Suit Samus's Side Special Move is her Plasma Whip, which whips the enemy with a beam from the Paralyzer, causing minor damage.
  • Up Special Move: Zero Suit Samus's Up Special Move is her Plasma Wire, which is basically the Plasma Whip that fires upward, and can grab on to ledges.
  • Grab Move: Zero Suit Samus's Grab Move is a version of the Plasma Whip that functions the same way as the Grapple Beam.
  • Final Smash: Zero Suit Samus's Final Smash restores her Power Suit, while causing damage to opponents.

Subspace Emissary

The game's adventure mode, The Subspace Emissary, has a story on Samus. It starts when Zero Suit Samus is infiltrating the Subspace Bomb Factory, guarded by R.O.B. units, in search of her Power Suit. On the way, she finds Pikachu, who seems to be in some kind of torture machine. She frees him and the battle ensues on. She eventually finds the Power Suit, guarded by two "Shadow Samuses." She defeats them and acquires the Power Suit once again. As the two escape, Ridley appears and nearly kills Samus, who was saved by Pikachu. After a short battle, the two escape and emerge at the Floating Island of the Ancients. Later, the two meet up with Captain Falcon and nearly escape a massive bomb explosion after Ganondorf takes over Subspace with Bowser. As they fly away, the group encounters Meta Ridley, who is defeated later. The rest of the story goes along without Samus being a major character.

Metroid Connections

Stages based on Metroid

  • Norfair: A lava-flooded stage with a few platforms based on the original Metroid. Waves of lava constantly spew across the stage, causing massive damage.
  • Frigate Orpheon: Based on the Starship of the same name, not much is to note about the stage. A Parasite Queen hangs in the background, but does not do anything. The stage turns upside-down and can go very dark.
  • Brinstar: As with the Norfair stage, this stage is a lava-filled stage, but not nearly as much lava gets spewn around. Something that appears to be Mother Brain appears in the background.
