Metroid Wiki is in need of filling in various stubs!

Power Bomb Expansions, also known as Power Bomb Tanks, increase the number of Power Bombs Samus may hold. They are one of various minor Upgrades, or Suit Expansions, Samus receives. The amount varies from game to game. They were first featured in Super Metroid, along with the Power Bombs.

In Super Metroid, the increase per Expansion was five Power Bombs. In Metroid Fusion and Metroid: Zero Mission, however, the amount lowered to two per expansion. In Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and on hard mode of Metroid: Zero Mission, the increase was further dropped to a single Power Bomb per expansion.

Locations of Power Bomb Expansions

Metroid: Zero Mission

Location Items needed Notes
Crateria Samus must use the Morph Ball launcher directly underneath the elevator Samus begins the game in. She must then use her Speed Booster to Shinespark (while in Morph Ball) up to a Power Bomb block. She must break the block to access the Expansion.
Norfair Gravity Suit Samus must travel to the base of the shaft next to the Norfair Map Station, then travel to the base of another shaft. There is lava at the bottom that Samus must have the Gravity Suit to traverse. At the base of the shaft, Samus must shoot a hole in the floor to reveal a door, then travel into the next room. In this shaft, Samus break a set of Missile blocks that block access to the Expansion.
Tourian After re-obtaining her Power Suit, Samus must travel back to where she destroyed Mother Brain and shoot a Super Missile at the ground underneath her remains. The Expansion sits plainly underneath.
Chozodia Legendary Power Suit Samus must travel to the Space Pirate Mothership's bridge, then follow a Zebesian holding the Expansion. Eventually, she will find it resting on a pedestal. This is usually the first Power Bomb Expansion obtained.
Chozodia Power Bombs From where the previous Expansion is located, Samus must travel to the right, then open a hole in the ceiling with a Power Bomb, revealing section above with the Expansion.
Chozodia Power Bombs Samus must travel to the eastern entrance of the Space Pirate Mothership, then climb up to the top. Once there, she must lay a Power Bomb to reveal the Expansion.
Chozodia Power Bombs Samus must travel to the glass tube that connects the Mothership to the Chozo built portions of Chozodia, then lay a Power Bomb to destroy it. She must then drop down to the bottom of the shaft, lay another Power Bomb, then proceed to the right. At the far end of the next corridor, she must either ascend using platforms, or Shinespark up to the top, where the Expansion sits.
Chozodia Wave Beam Samus must travel to a room near an elevator to Crateria, then shoot the wall with the Wave Beam, revealing a Missile block. Behind the block lies the Expansion.
Chozodia Power Bombs Samus must to a dark hallway near the room that houses the Ruins Test. She must then break into a new corridor with her Power Bombs, then travel to the top and open a hole in the ceiling with several Missiles. The Expansion is inside.
