Electro-Dynamo Wheel

An Electro-Dynamo Wheel is a power generation device created by the Luminoth.
Samus only encounters one such device that she can scan while on Aether, in the Temple Transport Access in Sanctuary Fortress. Other mechanisms of similar appearance, which may be Electro-Dynamo Wheels, are present throughout Sanctuary Fortress, however, though these cannot be scanned.
The unit she encounters is part of a power generation system. The wheel is locked in some sort of automated cycle, and is likely providing power to many areas of Sanctuary Fortress. This and other such wheels may have been used in tandem with the Gyroscopic Rings throughout Sanctuary, which were also built for power generation.
