A PED Marine is a Galactic Federation Marine armed with a Phazon Enhancement Device Suit. Samus first encounters them on Norion where they are aiding her to repel a Space Pirate attack while Samus, Rundas, Ghor, and Gandrayda try to activate the Energy Cannon to destroy the incoming Leviathan meteor. The PED Marines serve as a demonstration of the power of Phazon, and how it possesses devastating power. PED Marines are able to eliminate huge waves of enemies without as much effort when not using the features of the Phazon Enhancement Device.

The Federation has created a system that utilizes Phazon to increase the power of the armor worn by GF Marines. While active, the Phazon unit enhances the attack and defense systems of the armorsuit.[1]
