Luminoth Technology

The Luminoth, as a species, are a warrior race, but are also extremely technologically advanced.

After their world was split, many of their finest achievements fell into the hands of their fierce enemy, the Ing. Samus acquires some of these devices and bonds them to her Varia Suit.

Luminoth Equipment

Annihilator Beam

Main article: Annihilator Beam

The Annihilator Beam is a devastating combination of light and dark energy.[1] It was among the deadly weaponry wielded by the Champion of Aether before she was killed and her equipment was stolen.

Sonic Boom

The Sonic Boom is the Charge Combo for the Annihilator Beam.

Energy Transfer Module

Main article: Energy Transfer Module

The Energy Transfer Module was created by the Luminoth to harness Aether's planetary energy. The Ing stole it and used it as a weapon against the Luminoth. It bonds with Samus in the Great Temple after she defeats the Alpha Splinter.

Dark Beam

The Dark Beam was invented by the Luminoth to use a weapon against the Ing under the premise that Ing could be overloaded with dark energy.[2] The results were less than satisfactory, and they moved on to other pursuits.[3]

Darkburst

The Darkburst is the Charge Combo for the Dark Beam.

Dark Suit

The Dark Suit was a suit designed to reduce the damage incurred upon the wearer by the hazardous atmosphere of Dark Aether. It was originally worn by the Champion of Aether.

Dark Visor

The Dark Visor is a Visor that highlights enemies or objects with a dark presence.

Echo Visor

The Echo Visor was another piece of equipment used by the Champion of Aether.[4] It is a sonic imaging device that uses sound waves to enable to wearer to "see" the world around her.[5] It can be used to detect enemies invisible to the light spectrum and interface with sonic devices.

Gravity Boost

The Gravity Boost is a hydrodynamic jet-pack that allows for greater mobility underwater. The Luminoth undoubtedly created it for use in Torvus Bog after their temple flooded.

Light Beam

The Light Beam was a much more successful alternative to using the Dark Beam. It used concentrated light energy instead of dark energy and proved devastating to the Ing Horde.

Sunburst

The Sunburst is the Charge Combo for the Light Beam.

Light Suit

The Light Suit is a suit given to Samus by U-Mos that protects her completely from the harmful effects of Dark Aether's atmosphere.

Seeker Missile

The Seeker Missile is a Missile launcher that can fire up to 5 missiles simultaneously at multiple objects.

Luminoth Mechanoids

The Luminoth created several different kinds of mechanoids for various purposes, but many of these were eventually possessed by the Ing and turned against their creators. O-Lir, Sentinel of the Fortress Temple, was among the foremost inventors - if not the sole inventor - of these mechanoids.[6]

Caretaker Class Drone

The Caretaker Class Drone was designed to maintain an experimental energy chamber in Sanctuary Fortress. When Samus enters that chamber, it engages her in battle.

Corrupted Sentreye

Main article: Corrupted Sentreye

Corrupted Sentreyes were originally built to serve the Luminoth but have all since been possessed by the Ing to protect their camps on Dark Aether. They attack by firing a continuous beam of energy whenever they detect an enemy.

Diligence Class Drone

Main article: Diligence Class Drone

Diligence Class Drones were originally cleaning units but were refitted for combat during the war. They are invulnerable to most attacks but can be damaged using any weapon that utilizes dark energy.

Dark Diligence Class Drone

Main article: Dark Diligence Drone

Dark Diligence Drones are Diligence Class Drones that have been possessed by the Ing. Their weakness is light energy.

Harmony Class Drone

Main article: Harmony Class Drone

Harmony Class Drones are independent, free-roaming mechanoids that use focused electrical beams and kinetic pulses to perform their cleaning duties. Samus can destroy them using various kinds of weaponry.

Ingsmasher

Main article: Ingsmasher

Ingsmashers are rogue combat mechanoids that were originally designed to fight the Ing. They are fitted with opposite-polarity shielding and are equipped with powerful short- and long-range weaponry.

Dark Ingsmasher

Dark Ingsmashers are Ingsmashers that have been possessed by the Ing. They are top priority possession targets for the Ing Horde.[7]

Lightflyer

Main article: Lightflyer

Lightflyers are flying drones that fire upon anything living. When destroyed, they create a temporary Safe Zone.

Luminoth Turret

Main article: Luminoth Turret

Luminoth Turrets are automated gun turrets used to protect the entrance to Sanctuary Fortress.

Mechlops

Main article: Mechlops

Mechlops are mechanoids based on the Triclops of Tallon IV. They were created after attempts to domesticate Triclops for use in the war failed.[8]

Mekenobite

Main article: Mekenobite

Mekenobites are patrolling mechanoids with use potent projectiles to destroy enemies. They cling to surfaces using magnetism and can only be destroy if both of its arms are attacked simultaneously.

Octopede

Main article: Octopede

Octopedes were originally created to deliver data to Luminoth citizens but have since turned rogue. They self destruct if attacked with enough force to cause damage to those around them.

Quad

Main article: Quad

Quads are mechanoids with advanced melee and energy-based attacks. They are made up of a Main Body and Command Module that can work as a single unit or function separately.

Dark Quad

Main article: Dark Quad

Dark Quads are Ing-possessed Quads. Dominant Ing possess the Command Module and force lesser Ing to possess the Main Body.[9]

Quadraxis

Main article: Quadraxis

Quadraxis is the largest of the mechanoids and has absorbed the Annihilator Beam ability. It guards the Ing Hive's Energy Controller.

Rezbit

Main article: Rezbit

Rezbits are small but powerful mechanoids, capable of generating impenetrable barrier shields, phasing into an energy state to avoid attacks, fire potent long-range attacks, and even upload viruses into Samus's armor system.

Serenity Class Drone

Main article: Serenity Class Drone

Serenity Class Drones are among the only mechanoids that have no turned against their Luminoth creators. They perform routine maintenance without defenses or weapons. They also cannot be eaten, making them useless to the Horde.[10]

Watchdrone

Main article: Watchdrone

Watchdrones have no offensive capabilities but are completely indestructible, making them useful for blocking access to key areas. The Luminoth used them to protect areas in Torvus. They move when exposed to light.


Luminoth Biotechnology

Some Luminoth creations are organic in nature: living creatures without mechanical structure.

Lightbringer

Main article: Lightbringer

Lightbringers are surface prowling foragers created by the Luminoth for use on Dark Aether. Their crystalline makeup generates Safe Zones.


Luminoth Structures

Concealed Movement Pad

Main article: Concealed Movement Pad

Concealed Movement Pads are floating platforms designed to look like sentient creatures and confuse the Ing. They're controlled using a Light Crystal embedded in the underbelly.

Echo Key Beam System

The Echo Key Beam System is a sonic security system made up of Echo Key Beam Emitters and Echo Gates. Only individuals with proper sonic detection gear can interface with it.

Energy Controller

The Energy Controllers stores Aether's planetary energy and were designed to interact with the Energy Transfer Module. There are a total of four Energy Controllers on Aether, and they each have a mirror on Dark Aether.

Lift Crystal

Lift Crystals were designed to raise or lower platforms by switching their polarity using the Dark or Light Beam.

Liftvine Crystal

Liftvine Crystals are plantforms that will grow when the Crystal embedded in the surface is energized with light energy. They were used by the Luminoth to navigate Dark Aether during their campaigns there.[11]

Light-Based Teleportation System

The Light-Based Teleportation System is an advanced form of transport Samus can use in conjunction with her Light Suit. Using it, she can travel between the four Temples on Aether with ease, as well as other locations.

Light Crystal

Light Crystals and Light Beacons were placed throughout Dark Aether by the Luminoth to provide protection from the toxic atmosphere. They can be energized with different types of energy with varying effects.

Luminoth Datapac

Luminoth Datapacs were used by individual Luminoth to record data. Each of the Keybearers used one of these to record their final testaments.

Luminoth Energy Control System

The Luminoth Energy Control System is a planet-wide structure that stores and regulates the Light of Aether. It's main purpose is to keep Aether from dying out in the absence of its own sun, and also includes a weather control function and a light-based transportation system. It's controlled via the Energy Controllers in Aether's Temples.

Luminoth Holoprojector

Luminoth Holoprojectors were used by the sentinels I-Sha, A-Voq, and O-Lir to record holographic messages in the temples of Agon, Torvus, and Sanctuary.

Luminoth Laser Emitter

Luminoth Laser Emitters were used by the Luminoth to fire concentrated laser beams. The only one Samus encounters is in the Gathering Hall of Torvus Bog.

Luminoth Laser Turret

Luminoth Laser Turrets were used by the Luminoth in conjunction with their Vault Chambers. They are aimed with Spinner systems. The only ones Samus encounters is in the Vault of Sanctuary Fortress.

Luminoth Lore Projector

Luminoth Lore Projectors are used by the Luminoth to store their historical lore. They project holograms that Samus can scan and decode as long as she has the proper Translator Module.

Luminoth Security Sensor Array

Luminoth Security Sensor Arrays monitor Sanctuary Fortress. They collect and transmit data.

Luminoth Security Sensor Probe

Luminoth Security Sensor Probes monitor Sanctuary Fortress. They collect and transmit data.

Luminoth Sentry Pod

Luminoth Sentry Pods are monitor units equipped with anti-gravity thrusters and magnetic defense fields, which Samus can use in conjunction with her Spider Ball to reach new areas.

Luminoth Statue

Luminoth Statues are included in Luminoth architecture and serve both decorative and functional purposes. They often portray honored dead of Aether.

Luminoth Supply Transport

Luminoth Supply Transports are small vehicles built for troop and supply shuttling. Samus rides one in the Abandoned Base of the Sky Temple Grounds.

Luminoth Tech Crate

Luminoth Tech Crates are secure storage containers used by the Luminoth in Sanctuary Fortress.

Luminoth Temple Security Station

Luminoth Temple Security Stations are used in the Controller Access chambers of Agon, Torvus, and Sanctuary to protect the Energy Controllers of the three temples.

Luminoth Vault Chamber

Luminoth Vault Chambers are Luminoth structures built of super alloys that work in conjunction with Luminoth Laser Turrets. The only one Samus encounters is in the Vault of Sanctuary Fortress.

Portal Generation System

After dimensional anomalies linking Aether and its Dark counterpart were discovered by the Luminoth, they created machines that could create these rifts at will. Samus can activate them using her Scan Visor.

Sentinel Crystal

Sentinel Crystals are monitor devices used by the Luminoth during the war. They still transmit data to U-Mos.

Dark Sentinel Crystal

Dark Sentinel Crystals replaced Sentinel Crystals when they proved insufficient in the harsh conditions of Dark Aether.
