The Gravity Boost Upgrade
The Gravity Boost Upgrade

The Gravity Boost is a small jet pack of Luminoth design that bonds with Samus's Dark Suit in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

Properties and Acquisition[edit | edit source]

Originally worn by the Champion of Aether,[1] this jet pack only functions underwater for use in rising to the surface with ease. The Gravity Boost's functions also include those of Metroid Prime's Gravity Suit, allowing Samus to move freely in water without being slowed down by its density. The Gravity Boost is obtained in Torvus Bog. It is acquired right before Samus fights the Alpha Blogg in the Main Hydrochamber. It lays specifically in the small Hydrochamber Storage room.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • After obtaining the Light Suit, the Gravity Boost is no longer visible, yet it still functions.
  • Contradictory to its function, in the battle with Quadraxis, Samus uses the Gravity Boost to escape the explosion of the head, despite the fact that it is only for use in water. On this note, however, she has been known in cutscenes to do some very extensive abilities, some being impossible to recreate in the game that they're shown in. An example is in Metroid: Other M in how she used the Shinespark without actually having enough speed to even be able to activate it in Sector 2 of the Bottle Ship after the avalanche.
