The Abandoned Base is a room in the Sky Temple Grounds. This room is the Dark Counterpart to the Path of Eyes, and is very similar. The room is accessed from the Base Access.

Appearance and Navigation[edit | edit source]

Most of the room is identical to the Path of Eyes, except for the addition of Ingclaws and toxic gas. The only part that differs is the end of the room. This area has a large platform above hanging on a track. The platform cannot be used until four arms are lowered. These legs can only be lowered by by riding a two rising pillars to a small Morph Ball track. The player must hit four Bomb Slots in a specific order to lower the arms. Once these are lowered, a safe zone will appear on the platform, and Samus can ride it along a track. Three swarms of Nightbarbs will come at Samus while riding the platform. There is a Portal at the end of the track that is the only way for Samus to initially enter the Path of Eyes.

The room can be accessed as soon as Samus obtains the Light Beam, but due to the lack of Safe Zones in the room, it can be quite difficult to pass without the Dark Suit due to Dark Aether's toxic atmosphere.
