The Sky Temple is Dark Aether's counterpart to the Great Temple. It houses Dark Aether's primary Energy Controller, guarded by the Emperor Ing.^[1] The temple appears to be floating in the sky, and is only accessible from a shaft of light beamed from a teleporter in the Sky Temple Grounds below. The teleporter requires ten Sky Temple Keys to operate. One key had been returned by the Luminoth champion A-Kul before her death.^[2] After returning the Light of Aether to Agon Wastes, Torvus Bog, and Sanctuary Fortress, Samus must find the nine remaining keys across Dark Aether.

The Sky Temple is the smallest location on Dark Aether visited by Samus, consisting of only three rooms: the Sky Temple Energy Controller, Sanctum Access, and the Sanctum itself. It is the only location in Dark Aether not to contain any Light Crystals or Beacons whatsoever. The only inhabitants are the Emperor Ing, and several Ingworm Cache.

The interior is an upside-down version of the Great Temple, and the only location in Dark Aether seen to have its orientation differ in such a manner from its counterpart in Aether. However, as the teleporter appears to transport Samus through the ceiling, and no landmass can be seen below the Sky Temple from within the interior, it could be inferred that the gravity within the Sky Temple is merely inverted.

We learned that the ruler of the Ing dwelled in a place dubbed the "Sky Temple" by our forces. This place held the planetary energy of Dark Aether as well. It was heavily guarded, and entry was barred by a great gate requiring ten keys to unlock. These keys were hidden throughout Dark Aether by the Ing. A mission was planned, one that would find the hidden keys and recover our missing energy from the Sky Temple.^[3]
