Octopedes are Luminoth-built mechanoids originally used for data delivery, but they are now used by the Ing on patrols in Sanctuary Fortress. Octopedes travel in groups of eight and move in a rotating pattern to generate an electrical field that cannot be penetrated. Samus must destroy the Octopedes in order to disrupt the field. When in harms way, they self-destruct with enough force to cause damage.

Logbook[edit | edit source]

Logbook entry from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes: Octopede
The Octopedes were created to deliver data to Luminoth citizens. They now follow their routes in the service of other rogue mechanoids. The units were designed to self-destruct if attacked, and will explode with enough force to cause damage.[1]
