The Reactor Core is the location of Sanctuary Fortress' main power generator.

Although the Luminoth were unable to maintain the reactor after abandoning Sanctuary during their war with the Ing, much of it is automated, allowing the reactor to remain operational, even in the absence of its creators.[1] An automated repair system also keeps the reactor maintained in the Luminoth's stead, despite continual exposure to radiation that will eventually cause the units to shut down.[2]

Shortly after Samus enters the room for the first time, a Quad drone attacks her. Once it is defeated, a force field impeding her progression is dropped. Three Rezbits are found here as well, patrolling the center of the room and the platforms thereabouts. Once she has reacquired the Spider Ball from the Spider Guardian, Samus can use it to travel up a series of magnetic spheres acting as Spider Ball Tracks in order to reach the Energy Tank high up inside the room.
