Dark Pirate Commandos are Pirate Commandos possessed by Hunter Ing.

Upon possession, they inherit the Hunter Ing's ability to phase and can only be targeted by the Dark Visor but they lose they ability to project shields. They can fire grenades that generate an EMP capable of temporarily disabling Samus's visor as well as the Dark Beam. At close range, they can attack Samus with a scythe. Samus encounters Dark Pirate Commandos in many places throughout Aether and Dark Aether.[1]

Trivia

  • The Dark Pirate Commandos are similar to the Chozo Ghosts in Metroid Prime. Both can render themselves invisible and both can be targeted while invisible with a specific visor.
  • Samus can kill Dark Pirate Commandos faster by freezing them with a charged Dark Beam then shattering them with a Missile than she can with the Light Beam. They share this characteristic with the Dark Missile Trooper.
